Hasbro 3 3/4" Indy Figures...Hmmm...

Maybe we were all wrong about those "Mystery figures"! Hasbro had this to say in their recent Q&A over at ThePrivateUniverse:

Quote:
Most collectors have now seen the intial wave of Indiana Jones figures on StarWarsShop.com. What's the rationale behind not revealing the full case assortment (there are 'mystery' figures), when we all know the characters you aren't showing us because they were previewed at Comic Con last year? (TPU, 01/18/08)

Actually, we have not revealed any characters from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which are shipping in each case pack alongside the classic figures. Details on the full lineup will be revealed at Toy Fair - stay tuned!

I can't wait for a ToD Indy or a Club Obi Wan Indy(not so sure if this is in their lineup though)!

I'm not so up on the mystery figures, are they only from KotCS?

Do you ever get the feeling that Hasbro neveractually understands the questions being posed about the Indy Line? The answers are always so much different than what the question asks LOL!

Maybe they just don't know what the crap is going on anyway.

Heres why I have a problem w/ that statement. We already have seen Sallah and the German Soldier. And the so called Temple of Doom Indy will be the one w/ the Jacket. Theres 3 Mystery figures from the ROTLA line and those 3 figures are unaccounted for.

Thats no Temple of Doom Indy w/ the Jacket like they say tho, Look at the figure, he's holding the raiders idol...

I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 figures were from KOTCS. Can't wait till Toy Fair to see some new figures!

Hey guys, I co-ordinate the Hasbro Q&A at theprivateuniverse.co.uk. We'll be attending the UK Toy Fair next week (31-Jan thru 2-Feb) and will hopefully see what Indy stuff licencees are pushing. In addition (and I hope I'm not treading on the toes of the moderators here), if anyone has an Indy question they'd like us to put to Hasbro in our bi-weekly Q&A, I'd be happy to do so. Just post your Q's here by midday (GMT) 25-01, and I'll pick the most interesting...I get the feeling we'd all like to know about ToD representation in the toy line for example

I know for sure we're all interested in ToD toys. I would also like to know what kind of playsets are in store for the line. We've had discussions on the boards about Hasbro not wanting to make playsets because of profitablility but there are some neat ideas for Indy playsets including ToD and the beginning of Raiders.

That's a great offer, inky_skin! Here's my question for Hasbro:
The Star Wars and GI Joe comic packs are really popular with both fans and retailers. Is there any chance of seeing Indy comic packs based on the Marvel and/or Dark Horse comics series? Even better, Indy toys based on the novels?

I have a question.

Knowing what we know about Hasbro's stance on Playsets in the star wars line, I can speak for many Indy collectors who were AMAZINGLY surprised by the mention of a KOTCS Indy Playset for the 3 3/4" action figure line in the current retailer lists. Is this playset only part of the movie tie in line, or is it POSSIBLY a test to see how Indy Playsets sell? If so, are there at least thoughts of adding a playset from each movie if the KOTCS playset sells well? In case your Indy team does not realize it, ALL OF US WANT A TOD playset!

This may be hard to answer. Do the 3 3/4" figs that have been seen by people have the peg hole in the bottom of the feet? This might be an indication of the possibility of playsets being produced. I wondered about this today at work. I know it isn't a sure thing if they do. just leaving the door open.

Who knows...I thought it was common place for figures to have those now.It could also mean they come with stands..Which would be a blessing!

Thanks for your great suggestions guys - I've submitted Q's on comic 2-packs and the possibility of playsets. This is a bi-weekly deal, so answers will be posted at theprivateuniverse.co.uk on 01-02-08. If you have any further Q's about the Hasbro Indy line, keep posting in this thread - the Q&A we have with them is an ongoing deal. Incredible stoked about Toy Fair in London - we'll be there on 02-Feb, pestering Hasbro like crazy for pics and info on their Indy / Star Wars lines.

Thank you for emphasizing the Temple of Doom Playset.

That would be so EASY to implement for Hasbro. A twelve-inch scale figure of Kali ma with four arms, 2 outstreched to hold skulls with "pull chains" that carry the sacrificial cage to hold figures, base with large skull to hold three removeable Sankara Stones and a secret escape compartment for Mola Ram.

Not to mention to make the back side of the playset a seperate environment wich has the Rope bridge connected to a simple rock formation that could actually attac to the main set.

It would not have to be much larger than the Attack of the Clones Geonosis playset. it offered a 2 sided environment, as did the ROTS Mustafar playset.

The Kali statue could be a two sided Hollow sculpt to keep production costs down. You could have the whole thing up on a 2" base so that the opening into the Lava pit could be able to actually hold the cage. the 2" tall base would give the playset the appearance of having a pit in front of it. You could include an Indy figure ( without his shirt ) as well as a Thuggee figure, or even a Willie Scott from the cage scene.

Now, if there was only a way to make some sort of mine car set to attach to to it LOL!

Wow! Now that would be something for the Temple of Doom!!

The Rope Bridge could be executed easily as nothing more than 2 hard plastic hollow "rock" bases with suction cups underneath to adhere to to smooth surfaces. Detachable plastic bridge with "rope" handle railing. Includes 2 crocodiles for the river ravine and done! Perhaps includes an exclusive dirty Indy figure with his shirt torn.

We are all so appreciative for this gesture, inky_skin! THANK YOU!

My question for Hasbro's Indy line is if we can expect more vehicles, (cars, tanks, planes, Flying Wing), and possibly beasts. A set of three elephants with riding Indy, Willie and Short Round from TOD would be incredible! Not to mention horses, camels, snakes, insects and rats!

Thanks again!

I have a question...

Will the Indy 12" Scale line feature figures from Raiders, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade, just as the 3 3/4" line will? Or will they only be from KOTCS?

(I know, it has to be yes. But still, I'd like to be sure.)

Thanks!

hhmmm

It seems to me when I was reading a list of suposedly Hasbros line of Indy figures that there was hardly any TOD thing, even hardy any KOTCS, what TOD things will there be? I want a battle worn Indy from TOD.

Nobody here knows a thing about any Temple of Doom action figures. Only Hasbro knows ad they are not telling. Lord knows the demand for merchandise and toys from that movie would skyrocket! We will be lucky to find out at Toyfare in February.

Be patient, just a few more weeks.

I fear ToD to be the TPM of Hasbro's line. Hasbro seldom does new figures from TPM because of its unpopularity. Mostly it's just recarded figures or repaints. I truly hope to at least get the following:

Indy (battle ravaged)
Indy (Club Obi-Wan)
Shorty
Mola Ram
Lao Che
Willie (from the end of the movie)
Willie (Club Obi-Wan)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love a Giant Thuggee, Captain Blumbard, the Prime Minister, etc. But I'd rather get the above first.

Agreed. This is a non-movie year for Star Wars(if you don't count the rumor of the Clone Wars series getting it's start in theaters), so I'm sure Hasbro will give us PLENTY of stuff to buy.

Personally, I don't think we will get two Willie figures. We'll be lucky to get one. I think that most likely we'll get the following for TOD:
Indy (torn sleeves, bare chest)
Short Round
Mola Ram
Giant Thuggee
Willie Scott (possibly)
We'll be lucky to get a Lao Che, as much as I really want one. I'd love to have a Blumbert, but I don't think there's much chance of one getting made.
A Club Obi-Wan Indy is hardly a possibility. And I don't think there's a chance of us getting a Prime Minister.
But if anyone from Hasbro is reading, PLEEEEASE give us a Blumbert and a Lao Che!
