Hey, does anyone know if there's a copy online somewhere of the trailer for YIJC that was in front of all VHS versions of the films? I'm talking about the one that started off with "My Name is Henry Jones, but my friends call me "Indy". For many years I have lived the adventures of a lifetime..." I had a bit of nostalgia for it randomly, and I tried looking on YouTube, but no luck. If anyone has it, it will make me very happy!
You're right, that was the McDonalds VHS. I had forgotten about that whole promotion (I was... 8, I think). However, I believe it was actually in front of all of them. I have no idea what happened to my copies of ROTLA and LC, but I still have my copy of TOD, and it is before the movie. However, I'm over in Ann Arbor for college right now and my copy is in Hawaii... Hence me wondering if it was online somewhere
I've read that McDonalds was actually selling the tapes themselves back in '91.
Yeah, I remember going to the McDonalds in Ala Moana (a mall in Hawaii) and they had this whole elaborate display with the tapes. That was in '91? So I was 5, not 8... wow...
I know. Don't need to get picky over the wrods. it was used for illustrative purposes.
They actually do the same on the Young Indy re-release over here. They had a 4 minute trailer for the series as a whole, but it wasn't anything like the description from the thread starter.
On a similar note, has anyone seen the trailer that was released on the trilogy and on the Young Indy films in their incarnation prior to the DVD release? I suppose I'm especially thinking of the one for the trilogy, but the Young Indy one might have been one and the same. Just throwing that out there.

Professor Attila,
Indy Smith mentioned it above and it's not the same one.
The VHS series had a serious copy protection on them and I wasn't able to burn
them to DVD. I have tried (and will try again). I don't want to copy the whole thing
but just the bits'n'bobs that are exclusive to the set.
Anyway, thanks for "throwing that out there" because you've reminded me
that those things need to be preserved!

And it wasn't just the States either. That happened in Australia at Macca's in '91. Mum was tempted to buy it back then. Also at the same time, in Australia, you could buy an audio tape of the soundtrack from Macca's. Oh wait... She bought Last Crusade, but it broke at some stage. Probably from me watching it too many times. However, there was no YIJC trailers on that one, as far as Mum remembers anyway. Different marketing in other countries probably.

Oh, no, I know it's not the same one you're talking about. I mean whether the trailer on those VHS editions was exclusive to the trilogy and that there was another one for Young Indy or whether there was a single trailer for them both.

My trusty Peacock's Eye VHS (came with the '99 trilogy re-release) has it at the beginning (I never could find any of the other YIJ tapes at the time ). The trailer divides the tapes into "The War Years", "The Comic Years" and "The Years of Change" (two of which would of course later be used for the DVD sets). A narrator discusses each of the twelve YIJ tapes and the three feature film tapes, and at the end says "They're the adventures that made the man, and the man who became the legend."

i have the vhs tapes of the trilogy and they had some trailers and interviews on them and i think they also had a young indy trailer on them.
it was the collection where every movie fits in the chronological order of the series, like chapter 1 till chapter 25.
I will try to record them, somehow.
wait and see
