Okay - so sometimes I guess it does pay to help your folks clear out the attic. Found this little gem over the Easter break, packed in with boxes I stored at my parents when I left home some 15 years ago...
Appears to constructed of some kind of soft, tan leather. The logo is branded/embossed. Two zipped compartments, nylon webbing strap, plastic clip. "Made in China" on a tag inside, but no other details. I visited what was then called "MGM Studios" (Florida) in '89, and recall purchasing this from the Stunt Spectacular concession stand (along with a Disney Fedora - the pin from which I still have). Any information on the piece would be appreciated...
LOL!
Are you sure "fanny pack" is the actual name of that thing?
It sounds a bit... odd
Great find though, dude!
I think its one of those "lost in translation" things, I remember a US friend of mine howling with laughter back at me when I said we call fanny packs bum-bags, oh the joy of language!

Fanny pack was the common US choice of words for such a pouch. Very popular around 1989-1990's.

Oddly enough, I just came across a book on Amazon, called "Bum Bags & Fanny Packs", its a UK / US Dictionary !
"A comprehensive translation reference to British and American idiomatic terms and expressions offers coverage of differences in English-language vocabulary, usage, pronunciation, and spelling; sharing additional information about how differences in American and British language evolved."
Yeah, we Brits would have called it a "bum bag". I stuck "fanny-pack" in the thread title as I'd assumed this was the correct term for US, and that most readers would be located there. Could as easily have called it a pouch...

You know... I think I once had one of those myself. Well, my dad did, when we visited the stunt spectacular in '90. I seem to remember seeing that thing before. I'd have to check photos of our trip to make sure.

New term? I would say an old one that just didn't stick. Another common term for it was Fag Bag.
In any case, your attic find is very cool and you are welcome for the info...

Anyway, Skin, it's cool that you found your "hip" pack.
Yes, Violet, in N.America the fanny is the in the back but for you
(and the UK obviously), it's the front!
