I have said this time and again. It would be very hard for this new movie to contradict the George Hall scenes.

They would have to do something really drastic to Indy.

Have him lose an arm or a leg! Have him lose the other eye! Show him get severely burned. Or of course outright kill!

But there is no reason for them to do any of those things!

Old Indy had a daughter. SO! My father was married more than once. With kids from both marriages. It happens. Without getting into spoilers or potential spoilers _ Just because we don't see that daughter or her mother in Indy IV....or maybe we do... does not mean some how years later they won't still happened.

Lucas did not give us many details about Old Indy's life. He was very vague. It would be almost impossible for the movie to step on the validity of Old Indy.

Old Indy lost his Right Eye. One of the few ways they could contradict that would be to show him lose the Left one instead! But they have no reason to do that. They would have to deliberately looking to distance themselves from those scenes. But Lucas only really cut them so the DVDs can be viewed in chronological order. Having a narrator of any kind made that impossible. He made an exception for Harrison Ford's episode....BECAUSE HE'S HARRISON FORD!

And besides that, the way it's looking, Mutt is going to be Indy's step son. Also, if Indy gets married to Marion in KOTCS, that means that (since she doesn't appear) she is dead by the time of YIJC (which makes sense to me, since I would suspect that the Holy Grail's powers, while not permanent themselves, would have left some sort of lasting impact on Indy's life expectancy).

And based on the deaths of Indy's mother Anna and sister Susie, people close to Indy can die in the Indiana Jones universe.

True. It always brings me back to that fan made timeline that included everything. It was really concise. However, it could also be possible that his daughter is adopted and Mutt's his real or step son. The spoiler tag that follows relates to KOTCS so you've been warned.
However, Mutt is Indy's son. Lucas confirmed in an interview recently so it is more likely that his daughter is a step or adopted. I would say adopted after KOTCS with Marion

Could this thread please be moved to the Indy 4 spoilers section, please?
I just read something I didn't want to (and it wasn't the blacked out part).

Nobody wants to see Indiana Jones die in the new film.

Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford know this.

Therefore, Indiana Jones will not die in the new film. QED.

Now can we put an end to this please?

I think I'll live. Though, I suppose if my visits to The Raven continue this info would've been
exposed somewhere, I'm sure. I haven't read a word of your "Production Notes" thread and am
being extremely cautious now!

Duly noted! However, I've been reading your thread since it began yesterday and there was
nothing spoiler-ish about it until Adam's post. It was just a re-tread of previous conversations.

When we start seeing black bars in the Young Indy forum (where there is no spoiler section),
the stuff would be more appropriate elsewhere, IMO. Anyway, there is little administrative duties
or moderation to be done here on the "Chronicles" board (we're such good, little Raveners),
so it'll be interesting to see when/if it gets moved.

Back on topic: Indy isn't going to die in "Crystal Skull".

Actually what Adam said, which seems like a spoiler isn't actually a proper spoiler. It's still speculation on the spoilers and that's kind of what I clear up in my blackened text (but still don't read the blackned text as I refer to an official interviewee's answer from a thread in spoilers). In other words, it is only a speculation, not even a rumour. There is NO confirmation so far as to Mutt's parentage.

Oh, O.K. Thanks, for the explanation. Carry on, then!
(I'll just have to try and stay out of this thread.)

If Mutt is his son it's possible that the woman in the bookends is in fact his daughter-in-law, and she just calls him "dad". Lots of people do that with their in-laws. Well, people who actually like their in-laws. That'd make Spike and his siblings Mutt's children...makes sense, I think.

While I do think it's likely that one of the reasons the bookends are gone is that Lucas wants to maintain a feeling of uncertianty about Indiana's fate, I don't think they're in any danger of being contradicted. At least some of the Young Indy movies on the History Channel (and presumably on the DVD sets as well) close with the old shot of Hall's hands closing the diary, so Old Indy is still around, kinda.

This is one of the possibilities but it has some logistics problems.
Check out this thread. Pages 3 and 4 (starting around post #37):

I've been meaning to mention the exact same thing! The hands closing the diary were originally
only used for the 4 Family Channel movies from '94-'96. Now, ALL the new re-edited movies use it!
So, again...Old Indy lives!

I thought it was common knowlege now, that Indy will retire and be taken to live on Clakdor VII with the alien race and to be a curator of a human museum there. This will eventually lead to a Star Wars spin off.

Also Mutt IS NOT Indy's son. He is the love child of Henry Sr. and Elsa.

Mutt will soley take over the franchise :
