Funny People

The third directorial feature from writer/director Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up). It stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, and Eric Bana. The plot revolves around a dying stand up comic.

I can't help but think that this is the sort of film that Jim Carrey should have made in his effort to be taken seriously. It sounds weird to say it, but Adam Sandler's awkward man-child persona gives him all the edge he needs for the subtle depth needed for films like this. I hope this flick is good!

His directorial work is almost 'opposite' in comparison to the films he produces (such as Anchorman and Pineapple Express) in that, while his films are crude, there always seems to be a warmth to them and the characters are actually decent people who just seem to be caught in bad situations.

I just had a hard time believing that she would really get with Seth, even when she was drunk. I mean, look at her! And then look at him...
