Not on San Diego or San Diego County beaches. They banned all booze on the beach in...um, 2008. Too many "bros".

Yeah... no.

Summer means: work is exceptionally busy; my aural preferences get warmer and more Southerly; I keep hacking out the framing on my sailboat, and imbibe far too many rum-based concoctions.

Le Sab, the Aqua Velvets are absolutely smooth but here's a nice summer tune from...

The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon (1966)

"Now I'm sittin' here...Sipping at my ice cold beer
Lazin' on a sunny afternoon...In the summertime..."

You sent me to my cd collection, Stoo! That doesn't happen often. It took me a while, but I finally found where I had initially heard that song!

And just because...

I enjoy planting and taking care of a large vegtable garden. As of now I have red and yellow onions, lettuce, mustard greens, tons of tomatoes, jalapeno and banana peppers, three different kinds of greenbeans (or stringbeans), summer squash, cucumbers, okra and carrots. Late in the season me and my wife pickle and can a lot of them.
We also grill out a lot, swim in the river and try to get some fishing in when we can.

That paints a very pleasant picture.

It hit 108 last Saturday and was an amazing day! Went on my first half marathon in the heat. I love the summer!

Ultimate East Coast summer song. . . .

Although, Lou Reed's best and most sublime is his cover of 'This Magic Moment."

Further scientific evidence to debunk Finn's hypothesis.

2012.

2011 was a finer vintage.

That's a great version of the tune. Thanks for posting it, Sabbie.

How can all of you California dudes appreciate summer so much? It's summer there all year long!

Count me in, Gonzo! I'll bring the steaks, Drifter can bring the hot sauce.

Nice choice, Joe.

Cellar dwellers need to take a walk on the wild side: the OUTSIDE, where you can, y'know, actually MEET beautiful girls instead of looking at pretty pictures.

Cue: Another great summer song, "Beautiful Girls", by Van Halen, 1979. Crank it loud!

Now I'm seaside sittin', just a smokin' and a drinkin',
I'm ringside, on top of the world.
I got a drink in my hand, I got my toes in the sand.
All I need is a beautiful girl.

Yes, I can provide the hot sauce! Just name your poison. And will this BBQ be used on a propane grill or charcoal? I'm hoping charcoal.

Just got back from a month home in Montreal. Got a bad sunburn at an aqua park and my skin is still peeling.

Today, I'm off to the south of Italy and the Aeolian islands for 2 weeks. Mediterranean beaches await. Gonna pile on the sunscreen this time!

Aah, summer...

Today, on a beach in Taormina, Sicily, I was stung by a jellyfish. It was quite a shock!

Aah, summer...
