Indie Desktop Adventure help please!!!!!

Ok, so I've been playing this demo again after so many years and I'm stuck!

Can someone please tell me how to get the item in the scetion of the map with the house that has its doors boarded up and Indie can hear someone inside?

Also how do I cross the top portion of the map where Indie says I need a bridge?

A) There's a crowbar in the other house in the same screen.
B) You need a rope.

Where is the crowbar? That's the thing, I can't find it for the love of God.

Just keep moving things. Chairs, crates, stools, etc...leave no stone unturned. Just explore.
