I don't know how many of you subscribe to or routinely purchase the bimonthly magazine "Archaeology," but there is a really good article in the Sept.-Oct. edition (currently on shelves) concerning the myths and facts surrounding the connection of Archaeologists and Espionage, especially during World War I and WWII. In fact, the first page of the article has a sketch of Indiana Jones (ok, not Indy, but an Indy lookalike) with Nazis in the background. Good stuff, you may want to check it out. The article is fascinating.

The magazine's official website is:

And you can find an abstract of the article here:

I had a read through of that abstract - sounds interesting. The use of aerial photography in British archaeology owes quite a bit to to the Luftwaffe, who kindly took lots of photos during their reconnaissance missions over the country, so I guess archaeology and espionage do go hand in hand some of the time...

I always thought the cold war should be involved in Indy's further adventures. Whatever Indy's mcguffin is, it should be sought after undercover, or involved with a team of agents who are after a related item/issue/mission. The cloak and dagger serial adventure hasn't been done, and Indy seems to have experience in battle...
