Mother of Tears

The long-awaited conclusion to Dario Argento's classic Three Mothers trilogy is finally here.

I just finished watching it and I'm shaken.

I haven't been so epically underwhelmed, so utterly betrayed and disappointed since KOCKs. Even Argento isn't immune to pointless CGI and nonsensical plot contrivances. I mean you can tolerate the previous films' contrivances because they're so surreal and dream-like. But Mother of Tears is too firmly rooted in some real-world aesthetic. Gone are the lush technicolor images bathed in rainbow light, gone are the pounding, disorienting scores, gone is the sense of foreboding and confusion. Mother of Tears is best described as Harry Potter meets Star Wars Prequels; it's an ugly, ugly mess of a film.

Another great director has fallen. And darkness shall cover the earth...

It is nigh.
