Do you think that Church and State should be joined or have influence on one another in any way, shape or form if so why?

Even if everyone in america shared the same religion, it would be wrong. Freedom of religion was one of the basic rights this country was founded on. So to have the government dictate policy based on one religion would go against one of our basic precepts. To dictate policy based on one religion is, in essence the government dictating religion as policy. If that is the case, then the government is free to instruct you what to believe. No thank-you.

Despite these people *****ing about taking "under God" out of the Pledge of Allegiance, Texas has added something very similar to their state pledge.

Pretty much what I was going to say, although Indy's brother probably said it much better. Given that there are so many different types of religion, even under Christianity, it makes it difficult for a government that bases its principles on freedom and equality to decide that one religion is more right than another.
