I'm missing the "exaggerated quality" to the fertility idol temple (other than the traps and pit). It's a one level, low ceiling ruin. Sure a viewer can tell it is a set, but show me one fanciful design element that even comes close to putting it over the line.
Other than the flying wing type elements, I don't think the 'B-movie' element in Raiders extended to the sets. From the sub berth, to the Bantu Wind, to Cairo scences, I always thought that the a premium was placed on acheiving an authentic setting.
