question on upkeep of whips ?

what is the best type of oil to get to put on your whip to make it more soft and flexible --- i just got a new whip from texas and it is a bit stiff . i know you have to oil it up to make it move better when trying to crack the whip . just wonder where you go to get your oil ? any help will be much appreciated.

pecards is what they recommend --- i think i will check some leather shop or shoe repair store in my area to see if they carry it ---
