'Indiana Jones' unearths $126M in box office gold

Yeah, it needs to have legs... But I was amazed at the overall age of the persons in the theater when I went. I think it's the one film that brought all the gen-x'ers back to the movies!

Alright Deckard, remember our gentlemen's bet? :)

Ford To Star In "Crossing Over" Before Indy IV

Hmm... First, thanks for the link with the description. No, actually I'd better stop there. I'm halted by a non-thread-hijacking clause when it comes to Indy. "You're insulting them, and you're embarrassing me..." :hat:

Ford To Star In "Crossing Over" Before Indy IV

Whoa... Did I miss something? It says he "plays an enforcement agent who stages raids designed to corral illegals". Is he bad because he tries to enforce our border laws, or was there another piece somewhere I missed that went into more detail about his role?

Ford To Star In "Crossing Over" Before Indy IV

I just hope it's not some ultra-liberal propaganda film like Syriana, 'cept this time with illegal immigration. Since Penn is in it, I'm dubious.

2008 Blockbuster Showdown: Will Indy 4 Survive?

As mentioned when I brought this topic up on another forum, Deckard and I have a gentlemen's bet that I4 makes the Top 5 list, all-time. No movie has been more anticipated.

The Little Things you want pluse things that Must Be In Indy 4

    I agree, Commando. Good observations!

    Cast: So far, so good...

The one theme, 'cept for Titanic which is just a ridiculous situation any way you look at it, for the other major blockbusters on the list is that there are true, good-vs-evil heroes. Spider Man, Harry Potter, LOTR all had archetypes that anyone could enjoy. Indy, even being 63, fits that...

    Cast: So far, so good...

Deckard, Barron, I'm going to make a gentlemen's bet with you that I4 makes the top-5 "Highest Grossing Movies" list. Perhaps I'm overly-optimistic, as a fan of the franchise, but I think there is more than enough interest (even with a likely PG13 rating) for the movie to be absolutely huge...

    Cast: So far, so good...

Even if it's an uninspired story, with dry acting and predictable situations-- you and I both know Indy 4 is destined to be one of the Top-5 grossing movies of all-time. Since Crusade, I have never heard of another movie which is so regularly mentioned in the "I wish they'd do another one of...

    Cast: So far, so good...

As the I4 cast announcements begin to trickle out, I can't help but experience a little deja vu with regard to Lucas' last return to an epic franchise: Star Wars. (time warp, 1998) "Lucas announced today that Obi Wan's younger version will be played by Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor..." I...

    Cate Blanchett in Indy IV

I like her a lot, but let's face it-- she's just too classy for Indy. I will stand by my belief that she is involved in the supernatural element of the film, somehow.

    Cate Blanchett in Indy IV

She'll play the Oracle of Delphi. Or perhaps the Queen of Atlantis. Or maybe she's a competing archaeologist, like Ms. Beloch. Either way, I doubt she's a love interest OR Indy spawn.

When will we start to know stuff...

Perhaps unfounded, but I believe anytime you're putting that many 'main players' well into their 60's (or in Connery's case, 70's) together on a project, the chances of health/injury issues can arise quite suddenly. Lucas= 63 Speilberg= 61 Ford= 64 Connery= 77(!) Rhys-Davies(?)= 62 Or rumored...

When will we start to know stuff...

I'll bet the superbowl promo next January starts the advertising campaign. Can't wait to see that.

If not Steven Spielberg, then who?

Would never happen... BUT... With regard to style: Stephen Sommers (The Mummy). If he can figure out how to take the comedy out of adventure films... Jon Turtletaub (National Treasure). I liked Treasure, but like Sommers, he puts too much emphasis on making us laugh. The "dumbing down"...

    Transformers

Dreamworks has, in the past, released multiple movies around the same timeframe-- but they have been different genres. My guess is that Transformers will be geared toward children, and would not, then, "compete" with any Indy film. Spielberg has also produced movies that haven't always been...

While waiting for Indy 4, who do you think live out a life of real adventurer?

Me! I've sailed the streets of Venice, touched the Rosetta stone, walked the steps of the 'lost city' of Knossos, viewed the wonders of Tut's tomb, and saw the Dead Sea scrolls with my own eyes. Among other things. All this stuff probably wouldn't have interested me had I not grown up with...

    AFI Life Achievement Award

Yeah, but as I mentioned in another post, I'd rather see a "new" Indy introduced in a movie with Ford, than have the franchise shelved entirely after #4.
