Hi All
I thought that I would do a tutorial to convert the new indiana jones cargo truck for a diorama I'm doing. This is Part 1 of the tutorial I'll have have Part 2up in about a week. I'll put the pics in a link style as there will be to many pictures.

The truck was totally pulled apart to make it easier to cut and sand when needed. The pic shows the end results after all the work was done. I actually removed the door hinges that made the doors open and also removed the whip at the back and also the tow bar.

I removed the grill and cut the bulky connections the made the grill fall and replaced them with plasti-card and plasti rod.
I then removed the left and right hand side size deflectors, I cut the ball from the top and drilled holes in the bottom and replaced the bulky rods with thinner plasti-rod and then bent them to shape. Once the glue dried I drilled holes into the mounts and inserted the deflectors. The last thing I did was drill five holes in the into the plate just underneath the numberplate.

In pic 4 you can see that I have removed the old gear stick rod and replaced it with a thinner rod from plasti-rod and covered the seat with tissue paper to simulate material.
Pic 5 and 6 I have removed the one piece handles and replaced them with plasti-rod, which was drilled into the plastic.
Pic 7 I again removed the hand grip from the back of the truck and used plasti-rod to replace it I also added a plate using cardboard and drilled holes into it. The muffler in some larger plasti-tube cut to size and glued in place. On left side guard I've used cardboard again to simulate the numberplate and two 1/6 buttons glued together to simulate the reflector.

In Pic 8 and 9 I have removed the handgrips on either side of the cabin behind the doors and replaced them using plasti-card and rod, the door handles were removed and also replaced using plasti-card and rod. The side mirrors and reflectors have been given the old chop as well, I kept the mirror and reflectors and re-attached them to thinner plasti-rod.
Pic 10 you can see that the radiator grill has had the clip that help the grill removed and puttied up and I have also removed the symbol on the hood, I replaced it with a Mecede Benz logo as well as putting a logo on the front using plasti-tube and card the two side handles are photo etched 1/35 pieces I had in eth bits box.
Pic 11 I have added some interior detail on the back of the cabin using some 1/35 scale military boxes and old pieces of leather and a piece of cardboard with holes drilled into to simulate screws.
Pic 12 you can see a closer shot of the side mirror detailing and also the handgrip and door handles and I also added hinges for the door using plasti-rod.

In Pic 13 and 14 I used cloth I got from a cloths store and covered the plastic tarp with it using wood glue, Once the glue started to dry I used watered down glue to soak up the cloth so the detail from the plastic would come through. I decided to keep the side window flaps down as I thought it looked better and I drilled holes into the sides and then added small eyelets to simulate the tie downs.
Pic 15 shows the some procedure as the outside I also added the front section using balsa wood cut to size and glued inplace.
