Withnail & I is extremely funny IMO, though simultaneously desperately sad... .

I agree with the choice of many other films mentioned heretofore: Monty Python & THG, Army of Darkness, Office Space, Ghostbusters... .

The scene in which Pilate tries to goad the soldiers into laughing in The Life of Brian is perhaps my single favourite scene in any comedy movie...it literally made me cry with laughter

OK I just rewatched Caddyshack again, and that is safe as the greatest, but,

Hot Fuzz is climbing up the charts and is in top 5 with only 3 viewings. If I had more nights alone I could totally watch this every night, but the gf, well she is not as into as I am.
