An addendum to the post
I have purchased and reviewed the color Stooge shorts. They are done well and if you didn't know better, you may think they were filmed that way. In my opinion, the black and whites are better, but that is only because I have been watching them for 40 years that way. The average viewer may not even realize there is a difference as they are well done.
What I did notice are that the choice of clothing colorization is interesting. I always thought the Stooges were pretty well-dressed for a trio of bums (in most of their shorts) but the color schemes really bring out the "vagrant" aspect and drive it home as the clothes are reminiscent of something you would find in a thrift shop and they certainly do not match.
