Indiana Jones and the Legend of the Immortal Blade

In 1965, famed archaeologist Indiana Jones goes on hired expeditions financially backed-up by Quartermaine Industries alongside his wife, Marian Ravenwood. While scaling a mountain in Lebanon, Indy confronts Diedrich Spiro, a retired mercenary and cult leader who seeks a rare jewel. An ensuing fight results in Marian almost drowning. Swearing off anymore expeditions, Indy retires but desperately longs for a sense of purpose in the modern world after being called a fraud at a charity auction. While working late at the local history museum, Indy receives a mysterious package after its courier is shot by hitmen. Two officers track down Indy and reveal the content of the package; a golden turtle pendent, an heirloom belonging to a Vietnamese aristocrat named Osaka Le Tsung who is also a descendent of the Le Dynasty. Tsung recruits Indy to search for a mystical sword called Heaven’s Will before Spiro finds it first. Indy hesitantly agrees, keeping his quest a secret from Marian, and rallies up gear from Quartermaine scientist Arthur Roxton, whom he often clashes with. Indy and Roxton depart for the war-torn city of Hanoi to track down the first piece of the sword accompanied by Tsung’s military general, Ouzo with Tsung’s daughter Minh stowing away.

At a hotel casino, Arthur comes into contact with Kim Quy, the leader of the secret Dao Mau, protectors of Heaven’s Will who warn him of a great evil spirit within their journey. They make their way to a large burial chamber under Hoan Kiem Lake and uncover the first piece of the sword. The two escape an ambush by Vietcong mercenaries and decode a message regarding the location of the blade. Meanwhile, Marian tries to contact Roxton and grows suspicious of Indy’s whereabouts. She eventually discovers what happened and uses a tracker to find them. On route to Ha Long Bay along the Red River Delta, General Ouzo explains their intent to end the Vietnam War ravaging the country with the sword’s power which legend says was used to liberate nations and is capable of enhancing its wielder’s strength by numbers. Indy and Roxton salvage a Mongolian shipwreck and find the sword’s blade just as Spiro’s men set the ship on fire.

The ship collapses with Ouzo inside and Minh is kidnapped and held hostage for the sword. The two are subsequently stranded at sea. Fortunately, Marian rescues Indy using an old fishing boat courtesy of Sallah and an older Short Round. Marian scolds Indy for going back on his promise. Roxton discovers the turtle pendent is actually a map which leads to a temple hidden within the Ba Vi jungle, which only appears using the sword to make a clearing into the mountain pass. However, the gang is swiftly interrupted by a horde of man-eating piranhas, whose temperament becomes hostile. The crew escape to a large clearing in the jungle where they are confronted by Ouzo who is still alive and reveals himself to be a Vietcong in alliance with Spiro. Ouzo also hopes the sword could be used as a weapon on the same level as the atomic bomb. Indy hands over the sword in exchange for Minh’s safety. However, Indy is severely wounded in a fight against Spiro and sent careening down a river.

Indy awakens inside one of the Four Palaces, where the Dao Mau and Kim Quy; revealed to be the ghost of a princess named Lieu Hanh, nurses him back to health. Indy is endowed with a portion of the sword’s power and makes his way back up the mountain. Meanwhile, the team is restrained at the base of Son Tinh Mountain; a dormant volcano in which Ouzo attempts to forge Heaven’s Will. Minh and Roxton escape on a mini bi-plane and fly to the top of the volcano as Marian reunites with Indy. Ouzo finds the shrines of the Four Immortals and summons their spirits into the sword, gaining its full power. Ouzo attempts to kill Minh and Roxton but inadvertently causes the volcano to erupt. An army of dead soldiers are resurrected and swarm Indy and Marian, killing Spiro in the process. However, Indy manages to drain Ouzo of his power by running the sword into his chest. The three barely escape as Ouzo’s soul is sucked from his body and into the sword, killing him. Once safe, Indy is visited by the mystical golden turtle and decides to return the sword to its rightful place.

Back home, Indy officially retires in peace, reuniting with his son and writes a memoir from past adventures, which becomes a best seller. Minh pursues archaeology alongside Roxton. Before leaving, Indy entrusts the museum with his bullwhip and gives Roxton his father’s journal as Quartermaine Industries booms with future expeditions.

This is really fun: I do like your idea of Indy working for a new organisation. And the climax is nicely interesting too: not just a 'the thing the baddie is seeking destroys them' ending.

Thanks! I felt it worked organically considering its later in the 20th century. Computers and forensic sciences were becoming more utilized.

Appreciate it! It's cool bc there's a whole Vietnamese mythology that I was unaware of, its the type of thing that does involve quite abit of spiritualism as well.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I remember starting on a hypothetical script for fun! The opening was going to be the Walt Disney castle transitioning into a german flag haha
