Nor that of Stoo in my view. :hat:

That said, they weren't movies I watched alone. Always with friends (and I hope it's the same case with you)....

See it with some buddies because if you get caught watching this alone, they'll think you're a psycho.

Me too.

During Hallowe'en have you ever answered the door clutching a butcher's knife and wearing a bloody apron? Works great later in the year when the carol singers come round.

How about The Human Centipede (First Sequence) and The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence)?

Haven't seen either myself, but it looks like the second one is no longer banned in the UK. But they cut 2m 37s.

Yes, that's the one. A movie with a similar premise is "The Wizard of Gore" (1970).

I've heard of the notorious, "Guinea Pig" movies but have no desire to see them. A friend of mine helps organize a film festival in Montreal (Fantasia) and they showed #2 several years ago. He said that people were walking out of the theatre because it's like a snuff film.:dead: Not my cup of tea.

The only horror movies I really watch these days are mainly zombie movies and old Hammer films. Zombie movies are fun. The Guinea Pig series seems to be the complete opposite.

Now, those I am curious to see but they might be too much for my stomach. I'm all for getting grossed out from time to time but do have my limits. One has to wonder: What goes through the minds of the story writers for movies as twisted as these? And what is the fascination that people have in watching them?

Lowell! Oops, I mean, LOL!:D

Just watched "The Car"...love the airhorns and how the female lead gets it.

Now, whatever happened to that Nazi Frankenstein flick?

It crosses my mind as well. I can't explain it. Yet I occasionally feel the need to watch one!

Both "Human Centipede" movies were "Kiddie play" as Indy would say.

Any of you seen Salò (1975) based off the 120 days of Sodom by The Marquis De Sade?

It was 'creatively' stolen from this emerging film (thanks to netflix)

How about Tales From The Hood (1995)

I had the old VHS copy of this as a teenager, and watched it at least once a week. I loved that movie! I watched it again a few days ago on Netflix Instant. I watched a few horror films on there such as House (pretty good), but try ThanksKilling Day and Plasterhead for some obscure b-horror goodness! Found them on Netflix Instant as well.

I liked House. It was much better than the sequels that followed. I saw one a few months back and sold it immediately. (It was the one where the villain makes a victim drink his extracted phlegm.

Horror is my least favourite genre. As such, my suggestions are very limited. Check out Dog Soldiers if you have the time. It's rockets.

It is.

But I fear it isn't "obscure" enough, nor sporting enough "Natzis" for Nurhachi's refined tastes. :p

Wow...looks good, and streaming on Netflix!

"Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale."

It is 24 days before Christmas in northern Finland, in a bare, wind-swept rural community just this side of the Russian border. Young Pietari (Onni Tommila) and a friend sneak across the border to spy on an American mining operation. The workers are blasting, day and night, into a large mound where, legend has it, the real Santa Claus is buried.

Is the Feast trilogy obscure?

Feast
Feast II: Sloppy Seconds
Feast III: The Happy Finish

I hadn't heard of it when I picked up the DVD box set.

They're low budget horror comedies, but they certainly don't hold back on the horror. The old school effects are good, and you don't want to be eating anything while watching the second one!

The film-makers' intentions were to put in elements that you weren't likely to see in a big budget 'Hollywood' movie. The scene with the baby in Feast II would be a good example of that.

Haven't seen the third one yet.

No idea how obscure they are but my wife (who watches nothing but horror films) had them on dvd.

I've gone back to working my way through 'Allo 'Allo while building myself up to tackle Feast III!

Quarantine is another film that came to mind. A rage virus outbreak seen through the lens of a hand held camera, featuring Doug 'Abe Sapien' Jones.

How about Cannibal Holocaust (1980) That one was gnarly

I regret selling my 'uncut' copy years ago.

Yesterday, by chance, I spotted another DVD copy and bought it. Though it turned out to be the heavily cut 86 minute version.

It's not really an obscure movie now since it's part of horror folklore.

Watching this version loses a lot of the impact I felt on my first viewing - back then it felt as though I was putting something dangerous into the player.

This time around, without some of the nastier scenes, it looked very tame. Also now very hard to believe that this was being passed off as real found footage of actual cannibalism. As the Harold Monroe character says, the documentary film makers were very far from professional.

Looking at the DVD filmography of Robert Kerman, who played Monroe, explains the river scene during which the native girl grabs his tackle. Virtually all the films he was in had porn titles!

He went up in the world in 2002, though, by playing 'Tugboat Captain' in Spider-Man!
