Why do they use stock photos?

In KOTCS they used stock photos of Henry Jones Sr.

In DOD they use a stock photo of Marion while she’s in Cairo, did Indy have an IPhone series 11?

They could of easily used any picture of Sean
Sean Connery as a young man or even that one where he is standing next to a young Indy

Same goes for Marion, they could use any photo of Karen Allen and the audience would still get it, instead they go for a stock photo that was probably taken for a press kit. It takes the immersion out.

They clearly have a picture of Indy,Baz and Helena that we never saw before, as well as the Mutt likeness photo.

Just wondering if that drives anyone else a little kooky

Because Lock and Barrel photos are banned in California. If I remember correctly, you'll appreciate that.

I think it stems from a licensing standpoint, but I can't be at all sure. Maybe it's for the familiarity? Interesting question.
