Depends on the script and the scriptwriter. Darabont is - and was - a big name. I believe his fee would have been more if the script had been filmed, but imagine he got somewhere in the $100k - 500k range. Pure speculation.

Given Darabont's credit list, there's no way he got less than $500k for his efforts.
