Theory: Beginning of movie takes place earlier?

Not to try and make me sound like a genius or anything...but, I speculated about this same theory in the original thread wherein we all discussed the Teaser trailer. I noticed that in the shot of Indy in the warehouse (standing on crates) and smiling...he looks a lot younger than he does in other shots...which is what led me to come to the conclusion being proposed here.

"They will need it"

4 words someone wrote time ago about the Ark, and enough for me to know it wont be the opening scene, nor 1955 or earlier (though it was funny to speculate about that possibility)

Well it looks more like a 1950 Ford Coupe.

Hey, eroc, nice photo. Yes, I was going to say it was either a '49 or a '50 Ford.

exactly, took me a little while to figure it out, but I still think it all takes place in 1957. Only time will tell.

i'm not super knowledgeable about 50s fords, but it seems to me that the side-mirrors on the empire photo are a bit different than the 1950 ford coupe posted. also, though this may be the lighting, it looks like the front end of the hood is a bit more arched/rounded.

not sure though... but i guess all this goes off the assumption that government/russian-spy cars were up-to-date in that particular year.

edit: on second glance, i actually think the hood is closer, if not the same, between the two pictures.

Of course this is all speculation... but I think if we use the evidence presented it points towards these events happening in the same time frame.

1) Indiana, Spalko and Mac all have the same clothing. This does not correlate with other movies where we've seen, for example, Beloq wearing a different costume in the South American intro of Raiders.

2) Area 51 and the motor vehicles seen in the warehouse pictures seem to suggest the 50's and not 40's.

3) If they could get Harrison to look 10 years younger by giving him some darker hair, I think they would have done that for the whole movie and not just the intro.

No one, apparently. But you do realize that if any of these bold claims you've made here during these past few months turn out to be misses, we are going to laugh at you? Long and hard.

As far as the main subject of this thread goes, it's a pretty nice theory. Still, something makes me think the warehouse is NOT the opening adventure. What that is, I can't quite put my finger on.

Me too. There's just a lot of things in this movie we simply *do not know* about. Despite that, people have come up with pretty nice theories. Like in this thread.

I wonder if they'll digitally make Indiana younger in the KOTCS opening like Magneto in the opening of X-men 3...

Oh, they could, but they'd all burn in eternal Hell for it.

If Abner Ravenwood is indeed in the movie... it would not surprise me if we were to get a 10/15 minute intro showing Abner's/Indy's first adventure together...

Why laugh, if they're just being theories and speculation? No one has outright stated things as facts without any real basis. Apart from one exception...

Well, that's what Supershadow's script tells us. Maybe he's on the money...

You mean, "Jerusalem, June 1909"? That would be sweet!

It happens later - Indy and Mac have to get the Ark for some reason. Probably to put the skull in and contain its power, otherwise the world will explode or something.
